The presence of this Ukrainian Cardinal does not go unnoticed among the Cardinals. He was born in 1980, so he is not even 50 years old.

Mykola Bychok currently lives in Australia, caring for his fellow emigrants, who, before the occupation of Crimea in 2014, numbered about 50,000 according to the embassy.

He is a Redemptorist and was a missionary in Russia. His pastoral assignments also took him to Newark, in the United States. He was consecrated a bishop in 2020 in Lviv by the leader of the Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine. The Pope made him a cardinal in the consistory of 2024.

It is important to note that, for the Vatican, he does not count as a Ukrainian cardinal but as an Australian, because the Cardinal must be designated to the region where he resides.
