Pope Leo XIV’s weekend agenda was full of events. On Saturday, the Pope received politicians from around the world, including Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.
The Pope took the opportunity to urge them to use their power in favor of those whose voices are least heard.

Those who live in extreme conditions cry out to make their voices heard, and often find no ears willing to hear their plea. This imbalance generates situations of persistent injustice, which readily lead to violence and, sooner or later, to the tragedy of war. Sound politics, on the other hand, by promoting the equitable distribution of resources, can offer an effective service to harmony and peace both domestically and internationally.
Also that Saturday, it was revealed that Pope Leo had sent a letter regarding the project of Peruvian journalist, Paola Ugaz. In the letter, Pope Leo XIV reaffirmed his commitment to preventing abuse. He also thanked the journalists who investigate to bring any abuse to light.
The following day, the Pope did not miss his traditional Sunday appointment: the Angelus prayer. The square was full of pilgrims from all over the world.
This is usually one of the moments of the week when the Pope delivers his most political message. In this case, reflecting on current events, he spoke about the United States’ attacks on Iran.

Later in the day, Pope Leo XIV presided over his first Corpus Christi procession in Rome.
The procession went from St. John Lateran to Saint Mary Major. The route was over a mile and about 20,000 people participated. Pope Leo walked on foot, carrying the Monstrance in his arms.
Upon arriving at Saint Mary Major and concluding the celebration, Pope Leo XIV prayed at the tomb of his predecessor. Just the day before, it had been two months since the death of Pope Francis.
