Pope Leó XIV appeared, once again, at the window of the papal palace to deliver the Angelus. In front of a large crowd of the faithful, the pope reflected on the idea of accountability at the end of life.
POPE LEO XIV
We are not the owners of our lives or of the goods we enjoy; everything has been given to us as a gift from the Lord, and He has entrusted this inheritance to our care, to our freedom and responsibility. One day, we will be called to account for how we have managed our life, our possessions, and the earth’s resources, before God and before people, before society, and above all, before those who will come after us.
At the end of his address, he made a point to remember and call for prayers for all those suffering from the violence of war.
POPE LEO XIV
Together with you and with the pastors of the Churches of the Holy Land, I repeat: there is no future based on violence, on forced exile, on revenge. Peoples need peace; whoever truly loves them, works for peace.
With this message, Pope Leó XIV reminded the world that no war can bring a true or lasting future.
