During the celebration of the feast of Saint John Paul II, at the general audience, Pope Leo XIV remembered the late pope while greeting the Polish-speaking group, highlighting his legacy and the importance of his call.

POPE LEO XIV

Today we celebrate the liturgical memorial of Saint John Paul II. Exactly 47 years ago, in this very square, he urged the world to open itself to Christ. This call remains relevant: we are all called to make it our own. I bless you from the heart!

Earlier, during the weekly catechesis, Pope Leo XIV recalled how even in difficult moments, hope is key in the life of a Christian:

POPE LEO XIV

The unexpected joy of the disciples on the path to Emmaus serves as a sweet reminder when the path becomes difficult. It is the Risen One who radically changes the perspective, instilling hope that fills the void of sadness.

He also reminded the faithful that the month of October is a time to actively take part in the mission that every Christian is called to: evangelization.

POPE LEO XIV

With the strength of prayer, the potential of married life, and the fresh energy of youth, be missionaries of the Gospel, offering concrete support to those who dedicate their lives to the evangelization of peoples.

With his words, Pope Leo XIV invited everyone to keep hope alive and to move forward in daily life, remembering the example of Saint John Paul II.
