The was in the Middle East has continued to escalate in recent days and took center stage in Pope Leo XIV’s Angelus message on the last Sunday of Lent.

POPE LEO XIV
We cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of so many defenseless people, victims of these conflicts. What wounds them, wounds all of humanity. The death and pain caused by these wars are a scandal for the entire human family and a cry before God!

For this reason, he asked all the faithful present to remain steadfast in prayer for these regions and for all parts of the world that urgently need peace.

Furthermore, with the most important week for Christians approaching, the Pope recalled the meaning of what will be relived during these days:

POPE LEO XIV
The events of the Lord’s Passion—the entry into Jerusalem, the Last Supper, the trial, the crucifixion, the burial—so as to grasp their deepest meaning and open ourselves to the gift of grace they contain.

The week is filled with events and appointments in the pontiff’s schedule. Before celebrating the entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, Pope Leo will travel to the Principality of Monaco, marking the first visit of a pontiff to the country ever.
