Pope Leo lands in Barcelona, the second major stop of his papal trip to Spain

Pope Leo XIV has arrived to the second major destination of his fourth apostolic journey, the eastern Spanish city of Barcelona.

The Iberia airline plane with the pope and his team from the Vatican, along with the press, hit the tarmac at El Prat International Airport just after noon on Tuesday, June 9.

After disembarking the plane, Pope Leo was welcomed by Salvador Illa, the president of the Government of Catalonia. Cardinal Juan José Omella Omella, the Archbishop of Barcelona, was also part of the welcoming party.
