After his visit to UNESCO, Pope Leo XIV embarked on his first tour in the popemobile through the streets of Paris until he reached the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral, which was rebuilt after the devastating fire that ravaged it in 2019.
The pontiff arrived in the vicinity of the cathedral, where thousands of faithful were waiting to welcome him. The pope stepped out of the popemobile and approached them, walking the rest of the way to the cathedral’s entrance on foot.
It was a warm welcome for a pontiff—the first in 18 years. The last to visit was Benedict XVI in 2008.
