Just 24 hours after leaving the operating room, Pope Leo XIV has sent a message to participants at a gathering marking the 10th anniversary of Amoris laetitia:
As you know, I haven’t been able to be with you these past few days. (...) I will read the results of your work and discussions and share my reflections in due course. (...) Please pray for me, just as I pray for you.
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle presided over the closing Mass in St. Peter’s Square, joined by presidents of bishops’ conferences from around the world.
Meanwhile, Pope Leo XIV continues to recover at Gemelli Hospital. According to the latest medical update, his postoperative recovery is progressing normally. He has begun walking around his room, completed respiratory physiotherapy and resumed eating.
