Postoperative examinations of the lung lobe removed from Pope Leo XIV yielded positive results: the adenocarcinoma was localized, and no further treatment will be necessary.
This was reported by the attending physicians, Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora, eight days after the surgery.
For now, the pope appears to be in good health: he has resumed the Sunday Angelus, and this Wednesday he attended the audience in St. Peter’s Square, where everything proceeded as usual. He greeted many people and did not appear particularly tired.
He has also had other engagements, such as a meeting with members of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, another with representatives of the pastoral care of education, and an audience with an American Jewish organization.

Add to this the fact that he was discharged earlier than announced and that his doctor said he is recovering very well, the long-awaited trip to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru seems more and more likely to take place in November, just as planned.
