Today Italian Cardinal ;Ennio Antonelli ;celebrates his 80th birthday. For years he presided over the the ;Pontifical Council for the Family.
He is known as a smiling and affable cardinal, always enthusiastic to present the Christian proposal of marriage in large international forums.

'The organization of society, the economy or of work sometimes penalize the family, instead of supporting and promoting it. You have to see how some couples are forced to stay away from each other for a long time in order to work.'
He organized two ;World Family Meetings. The first was in Mexico in 2009, and the second in Milan in 2012, in which Pope Benedict XVI participated.
As he turns 80, he loses his right to participate in a conclave. Today there are 108 cardinal electors, but with the Consistory on Saturday the number will increase to 121.
