Pope at Angelus: Despite limitations, Christian communities can reflect Trinity's goodness

Under sweltering sun, Pope Francis celebrated Trinity Sunday with thousands of pilgrims in St. Peter's Square. Focusing the Angelus on the mystery of the Trinity, he began with St. Paul's Letter to the Corinthians.

"The Second Letter presents the words that Saint Paul addressed to the community of Corinth: 'The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.' The Christian community, despite all its human limitations, can become a reflection of the communion of the Trinity, of its goodness and of its beauty.”

He recalled that the revelation of God's name in the Old Testament is attained in the New Testament by Christ.

"Jesus manifested to us the face of God, One in substance and Triune in Persons; God is all and only Love, in a subsistence relationship that creates, redeems and sanctifies all: Father and Son and Holy Spirit.”

After the blessing, he highlighted the life of Itala Mela, an atheist turned Benedictine Oblate, who focused her journey on the mystery of the Holy Trinity.
