Pope Francis hit the nail on the head again talking about the refugee crisis.

It was a gray morning at St. Peter's, but one full of the affectionate warmth of the pilgrims. The pope spoke about two works of mercy: welcoming the stranger and clothing the naked.

In some parts of the world, he said, people build walls to stop the flow of immigrants, but that, according to Pope Francis, is not the solution.

POPE FRANCIS
'Building walls might make more noise than the silent actions of those who help and assist immigrants and refugees, but closing doors is not the solution, it only favors the criminal traffickers. The only answer is solidarity.

The pope recalled concrete examples of the patron saint of migrations, Saint Frances Cabrini. This Italian nun helped immigrants that arrived in the United States in the nineteenth century.

The pope did not point out a specific country or politician, but he said that it is important to know where we come from.

POPE FRANCIS
'The history of mankind is a history of migrations, there is no people in the world for which this is a foreign phenomenon. Commitment from Christians is urgent. We all have the duty of welcoming our brother who flees from war, hunger, or violence, and we are called to go to those who suffer, to bring them the embrace and the mercy of God.'

Welcoming the stranger and clothing the naked: the pope concluded his catechesis about these works of mercy by remembering those who suffer from abandonment, like the victims of human trafficking, the poor, the unemployed, or those discriminated against for their race or faith.
