Pope Francis has sent a video message to Morocco in preparation for his visit to Rabat this weekend.

He says he is coming as a pilgrim of peace and fraternity; and to look at what unites Christians and Muslims, not what divides them.

POPE FRANCIS
“As Christians and Muslims we believe in God the Creator and Merciful, who has created people and placed them in the world to live as brothers and sisters, respecting each other's diversity and helping each other in their needs.”

The pope said that the spirit of this trip is linked to the one of his predecessor, John Paul II. He had visited Morocco in 1985.

This will be Pope Francis' second trip this year to a Muslim country.
