Pope Francis organized a world summit at the Vatican to mark the 5th anniversary of the catastrophic earthquake that struck Haiti.

This natural disaster killed more than 300,000 people and left a million homeless.

F. SEGUNDO TEJADO
Pontifical Council Cor Unum
'The Holy Father has a huge concern for Haiti. Because the Pope is concerned with the poor.

Haitian Bishops and members of the Roman Curia will take part in the meeting, as well Latin American ambassadors to the Holy See and several representatives of NGOs. After meeting with Pope Francis, they will discuss the situation of the island and attend a Mass presided over by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

F. SEGUNDO TEJADO
Pontifical Council Cor Unum
'There's a lot of insecurity in Haiti, it really shocks you. There's still rebuilding work to do, but we have to start studying other issues, like education in the country.

Father Tejado traveled to Haiti to see first-hand the state of the reconstruction works led by the Catholic Church in the country.
