Following his weekly Angelus prayer on Sunday, Pope Francis discussed human trafficking, as it was the first International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking.

POPE FRANCIS
'I support those who help the many men, women, and children who are enslaved, exploited, abused as instruments of labour or of pleasure, who are often tortured and mutilated.

The Pope also specifically called on governments around the world to take quick action 'to remove the causes of this shameful wound, a wound unworthy of civil society.

POPE FRANCIS
'Everyone should feel committed to being the voice of our brothers and sisters who have had their dignity taken from them.

Before his remarks about human trafficking, Pope Francis also reminded the crowd that this Wednesday, February 11th , is World Day of the Sick.
