On Sunday, Pope Francis will preside over the canonization ceremony of the Spanish nun Mother María de la Purísima de la Cruz.

She will be raised to the altars just five years after her beatification, which was celebrated in Spain in 2010.

She was the Superior General of the Sisters of the Company of the Cross until 1998. She'll be canonized because of a miracle done for a man who was in a vegetative state. After 12 days in a coma, the man awoke, thanks to her intercession. She was the 7th Superior of her order and was also the principal of several schools. To set an example of humility and service for her students, she often wiped the floors herself.

Sister Angela de la Cruz founded Sisters of the Company of the Cross in 1876, and it was formally approve 22 years later. She was canonized in 2004 by Pope John Paul II during a massive ceremony in Spain.

Since 1876, the order has been dedicated to the poorest people in the world. They take in old women and those with disabilities and help people living in the streets. They also have schools for poor families. ;
