As 2015 comes to an end, Pope Francis will sprint to the finish of what may have been the busiest year of his pontificate.

He will hold his final general audience of 2015 on December 30th. Thousands of pilgrims are expected to attend. If weather permits, he'll be outside in St. Peter's Square.

The Pope's final liturgical celebration of the year will be the traditional Te Deum prayer on December 31st. Celebrated in St. Peter's Basilica, it's a way for the Church to thank God for the year that is about to conclude.

On January 1st, he will celebrate Mass in the morning at St. Peter's Basilica. He will celebrate Mass again and open the Holy Door at the Basilica of St. Mary Major that afternoon.

New Year's Day is also the World Day of Peace. This year, Pope Francis has said that his message for peace will focus on overcoming the 'globalization of indifference.

The week will come to a close when Pope Francis leads the Angelus prayer for the window of his study in St. Peter's Square on Sunday, January 3rd.
