The reform led by the prefect of the Secretariat of Communication, Dario Viganò, already has a solid legal basis. The Vatican has presented the department's regulations that will guide the communication of the Vatican in the coming decades.

In the span of 15 months, Dario Viganò has managed to unify different departments under one umbrella, that for years have worked separately.

These departments include: Vatican Radio, L'Osservatore Romano newspaper, the pope's Twitter account and the Vatican Press Office.

From now on, information about the popes will increase coordination and speed. To achieve this, he has worked with the Secretariat of State to prepare these meticulous, operating regulations.

The Secretariat of Communication consists of five major departments: ;
Editorial Department
Vatican Press Office
Technological Department
Department of Pastoral Theology ;
General Affairs

The pope has asked that the upcoming changes do not result in laying off staff. So perhaps some of the 600 employees who have been dealing with these departments will be relocated to other sectors.

The pope and his Council of Cardinal Advisers have closely followed this reform, which will begin on October 1.

Their first major project is a future Internet platform that will integrate video, sounds, pictures and text to offer the best information about the pope and the Vatican.
