Pope Francis to meet with Palestinian president on Saturday

Pope Francis will meet with Palestinian president, Mahmud Abbas on Saturday, January 14, at the Vatican to inaugurate the new Palestinian embassy to the Holy See. ; Abbas stated he wishes to speak to the pope about the history of the relationship between the Holy See and Palestine. He also wishes to touch on their joint mission for justice and peace in the region, after a comprehensive bilateral agreement between the Holy See and State of Palestine was put into effect this month to reaffirm support for peace in areas of conflict in the region. ; It is the fourth time Pope Francis will meet with Abbas. ; MB
