Pope Francis makes surprise visit to children at pediatric hospital

Although it's a new year, Pope Francis isn't changing his habits. On the first Friday of mercy in 2018, the Holy Father was back with more surprises, this time to the little ones at Bambino Gesú Hospital.

“Look! It's Pope Francis!”

The pope met doctors, parents and the children. Some of them couldn't believe who had just entered their room.

“I hope, thanks to you, I won't have to undergo more operations.”

Others were sleeping so soundly they didn't even realize.

Sometimes there's no need for words, as this girl's expression said it all when she saw the pope.

Before leaving, Pope Francis asked for one last show of affection, demonstrating yet again his compassion for kids.
