For the month of February, Pope Francis' prayer intention is something he has spoken about quite often: corruption.
Demonstrating refugees, destroyed towns and the lure of money, he prays for strength for all with material, political and spiritual power.
He says corruption is the underlying cause behind slavery, unemployment, a disregard for nature and common goods.
The pope asks that it be spoken about so its evils can be denounced and “mercy can reign over meanness and beauty over nothingness.”
