Vatican: Heavy snow covers St. Peter's Square

That's how St. Peter's Square awoke this morning – a white blanket covered the area following heavy snow throughout the night.

Snow is rare in Rome. The last time it fell was on February 4, 2012. On that day, Benedict XVI came to the window to observe the storm.
