Disable organization come to Rome to see Pope Francis

These group of pilgrims are from Milan. They are part of an organization called La Zattera. It assists people with disabilities to find work and offer them educational projects.

“We are a cooperative that deals with the employment of disabled people. We also run a youth center with children who have severe disabilities.”

They came to Rome to attend Pope Francis' General Audience to celebrate la Zattera's 30th anniversary.

“For us it is an important anniversary, an acknowledgment of the work done. However, above all we are happy to have brought our participants here to see the pope in person.”

La Zattera seeks to help its members acquire autonomy and be able to social integrate through individualized projects. They believe it is important that people who are disable are not socially excluded.

“We want our people to be satisfied, recognized and be protagonists in what they do. We hope that with us, in short, this can be achieved.”

While in Rome they will continue their celebration by visiting the basilicas and tombs here before returning to Milan.
