Pope Francis wears mask during an international gathering for peace

Pope Francis initiated the interreligious ceremony for peace using a protective mask.

This is the first time Pope Francis celebrates an event following the WHO's main recommendations during the pandemic.

This meeting brings together different religious denominations in Rome to pray for peace and to pay tribute to the victims of the pandemic around the world.

The event is organized by the Community of Sant'Egidio, and will conclude in Campidoglio Square, where the “Appeal for Peace Rome 2020” will be signed.
