VOLODYMYR ZELENSKYY
President of Ukraine
Today I spoke with His Holiness Pope Francis, and he said some very important words: “I understand that you want peace. I understand that you must defend yourselves, soldiers defend civilians, they defend their homeland, each person defends it.” And I responded that our people has become an army.

On Twitter, the Ukrainian president shared that they discussed the difficult humanitarian situation in Ukraine, and said he would welcome the Holy See's offer to act as a mediator in the conflict.

Ukraine's ambassador to the Holy See said that President Zelenskyy repeated to the Pope that he is the most anticipated guest in Ukraine.
