The Vatican has confirmed that on Wednesday Pope Francis will meet with families of Israeli hostages and also with a group of Palestinians in two separate meetings.
The Holy See stated that the purpose of these meetings is exclusively humanitarian and that the Pope simply wants to show his spiritual solidarity with those who are suffering, as he has been doing every week since the outbreak of the conflict.
Every human being, whether Christian, Jew, Muslim, whatever people or religion, every human being is sacred, is precious in God's eyes and has the right to live in peace.
The Vatican is trying to refrain from any political interpretation of these papal meetings. In the past, similar gestures have provoked protests from the embassies of the countries involved in conflicts.
