Pope Francis received members of the “Studium Biblicum Franciscanum,” an institution in the Holy Land dedicated to the scientific and archaeological study of the Bible.
The Pope stressed the importance of these studies in a pastoral context.
POPE FRANCIS
Let the study, meditation and reflection on the Bible and biblical texts be oriented to the heart of the Church, which is God's holy and faithful people on their way. Outside the body of the Church these studies are useless.
Among those attending the meeting was the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa.
