During the month of February, Pope Francis has asked everyone to pray for those who are terminally ill. He says prayers can help them not to feel alone in these difficult moments and also help their families find the support they need to sustain those who are ill.

The Pope said even when there is little chance of a cure, all patients have the right to medical, psychological and spiritual accompaniment. He stated that “incurable” does not mean “un-carable.”

This month's petition is organized within the framework of the World Day of the Sick, which Pope John Paul II instituted in 1992. It is celebrated every February 11 on the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes.
