The Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, has expressed his concern about the assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Slovakia.

He said the attack further increases violence and undermines the hope of building peaceful relations.

The Cardinal said this speaking to journalists on the sidelines of an economic forum promoted by the youth of the Christian Union of Leading Entrepreneurs at the headquarters of the Italian Embassy to the Holy See.

In addition, Cardinal Parolin also spoke about the Russian-Ukrainian prisoner exchange operation that the Vatican is mediating. He stated that there was an exchange of lists but cannot yet confirm the outcome.
