These are images of the tragedy in Texas caused by the flooding of the Guadalupe River. Heavy rains caused the flooding. More than 80 people have already died and dozens remain missing. According to local police, the river rose almost 26 feet in less than an hour.

One of the main areas affected was Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp, where 750 girls were staying. Many have died, and others are still being searched for.

Pope Leo XIV prayed for the victims during the Angelus and expressed his condolences to the families.

LEO XIV
I would like to express my sincere condolences to all the families who have lost their loved ones, especially the girls who were at the summer camp, during the catastrophe caused by the flooding of the Guadalupe River in Texas, United States. Let us pray for them.

The Archdiocese of San Antonio has posted a message on its website:

It is our prayer that those impacted by the floods will find the strength to rebuild. We pledge to be with the people in these challenging circumstances. Let us answer Christ’s call to love one another.

Several Masses are already being organized, and the Archdiocese has opened a donation section for all the victims on its website.
