This was what the atmosphere of the Jubilee of 2000 was like.
Well, actually, it was the atmosphere of World Youth Day as well. The event coincided with the Jubilee of 2000, and the streets of Rome were flooded with two million young people from all over the world.
It was August, and constantly visible was the deep connection felt between the youth and the Pope.
The vigil at Tor Vergata was a celebration. It unfolded with tender scenes like these and ongoing dialogue between the youth and Pope Saint John Paul II.
What strength.
In fact, far from feeling sick and old, Pope Saint John Paul II felt full of life.
That vigil and the Mass the following day were the climax of what may have been one of the most successful—and most impactful—World Youth Days in history.
