Music was an essential part of the Jubilee of the Youth. And Mary's Meals, a non-profit organization that provides food to the poorest communities in the world, made it possible.
They planned concerts throughout the week featuring Catholic artists. One of them was Father Rob Galea, a contemporary Christian priest and singer-songwriter. He attended the Jubilee with the hope that his music would inspire action and change in those who heard it.

I speak for all of us (Catholic musicians) when we say that it's not only about the music, it's about investing in their lives and encouraging. Because they're going to go back home, they're not going to have the Matt Mahers, they're not going to have these amazing artists with them. But they are going to have their own faith, their own walk with Jesus, and this is what we're trying to encourage.
Most of the Jubilee events focused on some form of prayer; a genuine call to spiritual transformation and Christian work.

It's also the community, it's great works, like even Mary's Meals like what they are doing – the great work to reach out to the poor. If we are leaving this Jubilee just feeling good about ourselves, having great emotions, then we're missing the point. It has to call us to action.
With the Youth Jubilee now over, many young people will remember their time in Rome as an expression of faith and an experience of hope.
