Pope Leo XIV announced a special event during the general audience: a rosary for peace in St. Peter's Square on October 11.
POPE LEO XIV
The month of October, which is fast approaching, is especially dedicated in the Church to the Holy Rosary. That’s why I invite everyone, each day of the coming month, to pray the rosary for peace — personally, with family, and in community. In particular, on the evening of Saturday, October 11, at 6:00 p.m., we will pray it together here in St. Peter’s Square.
The rosary on October 11 will take place as part of the Jubilee of Marian Spirituality, coinciding with the feast of Saint John XXIII and the anniversary of the Second Vatican Council.
This call to prayer for peace comes amid a global situation marked by war. On the evening of September 23, returning from Castel Gandolfo, the Pope stopped to speak with the press and said the Holy See has long supported a two-state solution in the Middle East, but lamented that “dialogue is broken.”
Pope Leo XIV also expressed concern about the escalation of violence in Gaza and in other regions. He emphasized that “if Europe were truly united, it could do a lot.” That is why, through the rosary on October 11, Pope Leo seeks to join the faithful in prayer as a sign of hope and shared plea for peace.
