The Pope once again greeted the faithful present in the audience that morning. As is tradition—and one of the most tender scenes each Wednesday—he blessed the babies brought to him as he passed by.

The morning in Rome began overcast, but the faithful had no trouble pulling out their umbrellas and continuing to listen to the catechesis from Pope Leo, this time on the mystery of salvation and hell.

POPE LEO XIV
To descend, for God, is not a defeat, but the fulfillment of His love. It is not a failure, but the path through which He shows that no place is too far, no heart too closed, no tomb too sealed for His love. This comforts us; this sustains us. And if at times it seems we have hit rock bottom, let us remember: that is the place from which God is capable of beginning a new creation.

After the catechesis message, the Pope usually greets the different linguistic groups present in the square. For example, this time he made special mention of an armed group from Slovakia:

POPE LEO XIV
I wish for you to be courageous witnesses of the Gospel of hope in the environment in which you live and work. With joy, I impart the Apostolic Blessing to you, to your service, and to your loved ones in your homeland. Praised be Jesus Christ!

He also greeted a group of young Romans from the Military Academy of Modena. After that, the Our Father was sung, and the audience concluded on a morning that was marked by rain.
