It is official: the Vatican has confirmed Pope Leo XIV’s upcoming apostolic trips for the next few months.

The destinations are Africa, Spain, and Monaco, and the dates are as follows:

Pope Leo will visit the Principality of Monaco on March 28. From April 13th to the 23rd, he will visit the African continent and will pass through the countries of Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, and Equatorial Guinea, covering 11 different cities total

Pope Leo XIV had already previously hinted at these trips during his return flight after his first apostolic trip.

POPE LEO XIV
As for trips, for sure, for sure, there’s nothing confirmed. I hope to travel to Africa; it will possibly be the next trip. It’s yet to be confirmed. Africa. Africa. Personally, I hope to go to Algeria to visit the places from the life of Saint Augustine and to continue with the discourse on dialogue, on building bridges between the Christian and Muslim worlds.

Africa was also visited by Saint John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis.

The Holy See also confirmed Pope Leo XIV will visit Spain, which last received a papal visit in 2011 from Pope Benedict XVI, on World Youth Day.

Pope Francis had planned a trip to Spain but now Pope Leo XIV will take it on. The Holy See has not confirmed it yet, but Pope Leo is expected to visit the cities of Madrid, Barcelona, and the Canary Islands.

2026 is already full of events and apostolic trips for Pope Leo XIV, and soon he will be marking the one year anniversary of his pontificate.
