Pope Leo XIV arrived in the birthplace of Saint Augustine, the figure who inspired the founding of the Order of Saint Augustine, of which Leo XIV, in addition to being a member, also served as Superior.
After a flight of just over an hour, Pope Leo arrived at 10:32 in Annaba, the ancient city of Hippo.
His first engagement was a visit to the archaeological site of Hippo, where the remains of both the Roman and early Christian city are preserved, including the so-called Basilica of Peace.
