This is the Vatican Publishing House. Founded by Pope Pius XI, it publishes official Vatican texts and the Holy See’s official books and documents. This year it celebrates its 100th anniversary.

To mark the occasion, writers from all over the world met with the Pope, who praised their work and spoke to them about God:

POPE LEO XIV

Writing, as you know, is an act of truth, of revelation. For it reveals who we are, what we believe and hope for.

Finally, writing concerns God. It may seem a bold claim to make, but several theologians have reflected on and written about the harmony between the art of writing and the revelation of the biblical God. When we delve into the very depths of our humanity, we are not far from God. For there in the midst of very human stories, God reveals himself.

Among the most recognizable names are Norwegian Nobel Prize-winning author Jon Fosse, several Pulitzer Prize winners, and Spanish novelist Julia Navarro.
