Following a vacation spent reading, praying, and exercising, Pope Leo XIV has returned to Rome and has already resumed official meetings.
On Sunday, August 2nd, the pope will again pray the Angelus from his quarters overlooking St. Peter's Square. On Wednesday, August 5th, the weekly general audiences will resume.
On Thursday, August 6th, Pope Leo will travel to Assisi for the closing mass of a youth gathering commemorating the 100th anniversary of St. Francis' passing. On the Feast of the Assumption, August 15th, he will celebrate Mass at a local parish in Castel Gandolfo before praying the Angelus.
On the 22nd of August, the pope will make a pastoral visit to the Republic of San Marino. He will then go to the Italian city, Rimini, where he will celebrate Mass for participants of the 47th Meeting for Friendship Among Peoples.
After two summers in Castel Gandolfo, Pope Leo will participate in their local feast of Our Lady of the Lake. It's organized by a lakeside parish, constructed at the request of Pope Paul VI. On the last Sunday of July, the pope will celebrate Mass there and then join in the traditional boat procession.
In September, bishops from around the world will once again visit the Vatican and Pope Leo will continue with meetings.
Near the end of September he will go to France, specifically Paris, Lourdes and Metz.
One other trip is expected for 2026, although the Vatican has not officially confirmed it. Pope Leo would, in November, go to Argentina, Uruguay and Peru, which holds special significance for him.
