President Macron and Pope Leo XIV met at the Élysée Palace. It will be their only private meeting, after the Holy See rejected the French president’s more formal proposal.
The pope received military honors, posed for an official photo and exchanged gifts in the Salon des Portraits before heading to the Salle des Fêtes to meet with political, religious, civil and diplomatic authorities.
