Pope Leo XIV left the Vatican at 12:57 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, heading to the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital.
At the hospital, known as the “hospital of the popes,” Leo XIV will undergo surgery to remove a lung nodule that was detected at an early stage and is well localized.
After a 10-minute car ride, the Pope was welcomed by Dr. Stefano Margaritoria, the surgeon performing the procedure.
