Pope Francis meets with liberal politician from Greece

The Pope met privately the Head of the Coalition of the Radical Left in Greece, 40 year old Alexis Tsipras. Their meeting didn't appear in the Pope's official agenda and no images were distributed.  

In their meeting they talked about Europe's humanitarian crisis, climate change and the need to take action to achieve peace.

'Even though we started from different points, ideological points, we believe we have common positions in the principles of solidarity, in the principles of justice, peace and cohesion.â? 

It was a brief meeting, where they both emphasized the importance of caring for individuals, instead of caring for markets.

'So I think for us, it was a very good surprise, that we recognize that we are in a very close position with the Catholic Church in these positions, in these arguments.�

The coordinator of the European Network of alternative thinking 'Transform' Austrian Walter Baier, was also present in the meeting.
