In the face of the Israeli offensive in Gaza, the Pope once again called for peace and respect for humanitarian law.

POPE LEO XIV
Today, I once again make a strong appeal to both the parties involved and the international community to end the conflict in the Holy Land, which has caused so much terror, destruction, and death.

I implore that all hostages be released, a permanent ceasefire be restored, the safe entry of humanitarian aid be facilitated, and humanitarian law be fully respected.

During the General Audience, the Pope reflected on the fruits of a selfless love like the one Jesus demonstrated with His death.

POPE LEO XIV
The logic of the Gospel is different: only what is given flourishes, only love that becomes free can restore faith even where all seems lost.

Jesus shows that Christian hope is not evasion, but decision. This attitude is the fruit of a profound prayer in which we do not ask God to spare us from suffering, but to have the strength to persevere in love.

The Pope did not fail to remind the faithful that the day was an important feast for him: the feast of Saint Monica, the mother of Saint Augustine.
