The Pope is in Bamenda, one of the cities for his papal tour of Cameroon. Since 2013, this region has been plagued by a bloody—and largely forgotten—conflict, which has caused thousands of deaths and nearly 500,000 internally displaced people.
In this city, he will celebrate Mass in the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, then in the afternoon he will take part in another ceremony at the airport before returning to Yaoundé, where he is staying during this second stage of his African tour.
