During the papal flight to Spain, Elise Ann Allen of Crux News asked Pope Leo if he was a fan of Real Madrid or Barcelona. The Holy Father slyly responded that “The Pope is for all teams, but Prevost is for Real Madrid.”
During his third day in Spain, it was unsurpising then to see Pope Leo XIV meeting with Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, prior to a papal gathering at Bernabeu Stadium.
Perez gave the pope a tour of the club's trophy case and gave him a gift: a Real Madrid jersey with 'Robert F. Prevost' on the back.
