This was the powerful moment when Pope Leo XIV blessed the Tower of Jesus, the tallest of the Sagrada Família. After the celebration of the Mass, the ceremony crowned one of the most anticipated milestones in the recent history of the basilica. Topped with a large illuminated cross, the imposing spire rises above the Barcelona skyline as a testament to decades of endless work and dedication.

The Tower of Jesus stands out not only for its height, but also for the fun facts surrounding it. At 564 feet, it is the tallest part of the Sagrada Família, but Antoni Gaudí intended for it not to exceed the height of Montjuïc mountain. According to his vision, no man-made work should be higher than the nature created by God. This symbolic detail remains one of the most discussed parts of the project.

The papal blessing also carried great spiritual value. The Tower of Jesus is the central piece of a set of 18 towers that make the Sagrada Família one of the most unique architectural works in the world.
