During the General Audience on Wednesday, June 17, Pope Leo XIV received the official FIFA match ball for the 2026 World Cup in a symbolic ceremony attended by the ambassadors of Mexico, the United States, and Canada to the Holy See.

The ball, signed by representatives of the three host nations, was presented by Mexico’s ambassador to the Holy See, Alberto Barranco Chavarría, alongside Canada’s ambassador, Joyce Napier, and the United States ambassador, Brian Burch.

Barranco emphasized that the gesture reflects solidarity and cooperation among the three countries, while also recognizing the work of the Holy See and the Pope in promoting peace through dialogue and encounter.
