Those who want to explore one of the world's most famous books more deeply will soon have plenty of space to do so. Museum of the Bible is set to open later this week in Washington, D.C.

TONY ZEISS
Executive Director, Museum of the Bible

“We endeavor to make this one of the finest museums in our world. We want our people who come here to go away with two takeaways. The first one is, 'Wow! That's the most incredible museum I've ever visited.' The second one is, 'Maybe there's something about this Bible, this book. Maybe we should get a little more engaged in it.'”

Located just a few blocks from both the National Mall and the U.S. Capitol, the 430,000-square-foot building contains eight floors. Three of them will be dedicated to the history, narrative and impact of the Bible, respectively, while the remaining levels will house research labs, a children's area, permanent exhibition spaces for world-renowned libraries and museums, a theater, classrooms, gardens and even a restaurant.

Traveling exhibits that have graced places ranging from the United States to the Vatican, Jerusalem and Israel will now have a more permanent home inside the Good Book's constructed replica, which Zeiss and his commission promise to be “an unparalleled experience, using cutting-edge technology to bring the Bible to life.”

The Scriptures turn a new page with the museum's grand opening on Friday, November 17.
