Pope Francis was the first pope to travel to Myanmar, a trip where his presence and actions spoke louder than words ever could.
He encouraged Catholic leaders among the 90 percent Buddhist population, and brought compassion to countries that struggle with peaceful coexistence.
In the presidential palace, Pope Francis held a private meeting with the president of the republic, Htin Kyaw and met with Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counselor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar.
With the desire to inspire dialogue and share “love and peace,” he greeted the disabled, engaged with the enthusiastic youth and honored one of the newest saints, Mother Teresa, by visiting a home for the sick run by the Missionaries of Charity in Bangladesh.
One of the most important moments, however, was when he met with 16 Rohingya Muslims, and asked for forgiveness on behalf of the world's indifference.
