Pope Francis inaugurates the first World Conference on Faith and Sports in the Paul VI Audience Hall with the Secretary of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, and the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach.

The conference is organized by the Pontifical Council for Culture and will commence until Friday at the Vatican. There will be world leaders for sports and faith present to discuss new initiatives and to strengthen ties between the two.

The event is scheduled to begin 3:30 p.m. Rome time.
