The Vatican's spokesperson responded to reports of possible terrorists attacks being plotted against the Vatican. ;

On Friday, Italian police announced the arrest of nine Al Qaeda operatives based in the Italian island of Sardinia, which is roughly 250 miles from Rome. Police are still looking for another 11 suspects. ;

Investigators suspect the group had considered targeting the Vatican back in 2010. Though at this point there is only suspicion and no proof of a plausible attack. ;

Fr. Federico Lombardi gave little weight to news, adding that since its related to suspicions ;that date back to 2010, there is no reason to worry. ;
